Blog Entry: An impressively high Kanawha River became quite an attraction for many people in the Kanawha Valley this weekend. All over Charleston, from Kanawha City to the West Side, people marveled at the high level of the muddy, racing water. What most didn't know was that they were watching flood control in action. 2010 world cup Many people who saw the Kanawha on Saturday would have had difficulty believing that any water was being held back anywhere. But officials of the Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said flood control dams saved Kanawha Valley residents from looking at water that would have been at least a foot higher.
